North Fulton Alumnae Chapter’s Physical & Mental Health Committee focuses on the importance and benefits of lifestyle changes affecting longevity and quality of life. The committee’s goal is to impact communities through development of health-focused programs and disseminating relevant health related information.
The DeltaCare Initiative is an internal Delta Sigma Theta wellness initiative under the programmatic thrust of Physical and Mental Health. It promotes self-care through physical wellness, emotional wellness, and awareness/advocacy. Specifically, the Red S.H.O.E. challenge is the physical health component of DeltaCare that encourages members to engage in healthy behaviors. S.H.O.E. is an acronym for Self-care, Healthy Options, and Exercise.
The Physical and Mental Health committee implements programs and activities to improve the physical and mental well-being of the North Atlanta area, focusing on Black women and youth. Through a signature program entitled “Healthy People Living in Healthy Communities…Mind, Body and Spirit” and involvement in various activities, we proactively raise awareness on major health and wellness concerns that disproportionately impact the minority community. We are dedicated to reducing the disparity gaps that exist in our communities.
